Hello this is Chelsea and Loren here we are the Dividends.

We chose the Dividends as our group name because we are good

at dividing and we like the name. Listen to our problems we record

and listen to how we solve them.

Angles

This last week in maths we have been learning about measuring angles. We have been learning how to use protractors to measure angles.  I (loren) found it quite interesting and understood it quite well, although on the textbook page i got quite a few wrong. We were also learning whether the angle was acute, obtuse or reflex  obtuse means over 90 degrees, acute means under 90 degrees and reflex means over 180 degrees. Over all i quite enjoy doing angles.

3d Shapes

for the last few weeks we have been learning about 3D shapes how many faces edges and corners they have. We have been using the smart board( big board on the wall used for the projector) to look at different shapes. One of the shapes we found very hard was a Dodectahedron ( don't ask). The other new shapes we learned were a pentagonal prism, a tetra hedron and an octohedron, Then we did a quiz today about all the different shapes.some people had missed the presentation pared up with some one who did and then a teacher and pupil game.

 

 

 

 

____******Breaking News! Jamie has left the dividends! Its true jamie is away now only loren and chelsea are in the dividends. HOORAY!

 

We played a game called fraction frenzy, Chelsea's score was 1520, Jamies score was 820 and Lorens score was 1120. Chelsea was the winner!!

 

 

 

__Our Problems We Solve__

 

In maths we have been doing lots of different problems, like yesterday for instance we had to pretend someone was an alien and you had to explain to them what a fraction was. (Jamie was the alien!) We had to make it as simple as possible like the alien didn't know what a fraction was.

 

About a week ago we did a problem about a Himalayin expidition. Our picture is on the main page of the p7v maths blog. Chelsea cut out figures carefully and stuck them on the white board while I read out the problem and Jamie read the answers. We got the right answer we were so pleased!

 

 

 

__What we do in our spare math time!__

 

In maths we usually have time left after we do work so we usually go to the computer suite and go on maths games like the wee red box. Yesterday we played hangman using maths words.

 

 

 

 

 

__What We Enjoy About Working In Group**__

 

Chelsea here,I enjoy doing the maths this way.I have been reminded how to do fractions and learnt lots I Enjoy doing maths in groups because you can check your work with each other!!!!!!!!!!!!

 

Jamie here,i like working in groups because you can share answers and you will hardly get any wrong.

 

Loren here, I like working in groups because you work together to solve problems and we almost always succeed!

 

 

****____Bullying!

Recently in maths we have been making graphs and gathering information from the school. We find this enjoyable!! The first podcast(recording) we made is about bullying. Listen ito it PLEASE!

This is Loren. Over the past week in maths we have been focussing on bullying. We made graphs about how many people got bullied and other information. We learned a lot about graphs. I find maths enjoyable now because we do other things instead of textbook work everyday. I have learned that graphs do not tell the truth all the time and the different kinds of graphs. I find maths very intersting now, I really enjoy it.
